Elk Point Truss Ltd. was founded in the spring of 1979 by the Croteau family along with 3 additional partners. Edward Croteau of Bonnyville bought out his partners and continues to operate the business with his son Marc.
​
The Truss Plant was operational by the summer of 1979 when the original shop was completed. In 2000 a 4500 sq. ft addition was added to the south side of the shop. In 2007, an addition to the north side of the shop brought the total square footage of the plant to 20,000 square feet and manufacturing equipment was tripled with the new addition. Administration was housed in an ATCO trailer until 1998 when the 1600 square foot office building was erected.

Elk Point Truss Ltd. has approximately 25 employees, including 2 knowlegeable salespersons - Marc Croteau, who has been with the Elk Point Truss for 25 years; Dwayne Yaremkevich, who started when the plant opened in 1979. With their many years of experience, the salespersons provide free estimates and design truss packages for residential, commercial and farm buildings.
